As an indispensable component of the modern food industry, the development of food additives is currently driven by dual forces of technological innovation and evolving consumer demands. Against the backdrop of the global food industry's accelerated transition toward health-oriented, natural, and sustainable development, the food additive sector is undergoing profound transformations in policy regulation systems, technological innovation pathways, and market supply-demand dynamics. Based on novel food additive cases approved by National Health Commission over the past three years, this paper systematically examined technological development trends in the food additive industry, revealing three core future directions: Efficient extraction and application of natural bioactive components, breakthroughs in biosynthetic technologies, and AI-driven innovation in research and development paradigms. By establishing an interdisciplinary technological innovation system, the food additive industry will accelerate its strategic transformation toward enhanced safety performance, improve nutritional functionality, and optimize ecological benefits, thereby promoting the restructuring and upgrading of the global food industrial system.
