The Development of Fig Fruit Microcapsule Powder and Its Efficacy in Alleviating Constipation

    Abstract:

    Constipation is a common clinical symptom caused by various pathological factors, and improving intestinal health through dietary interventions plays a significant role in the treatment of constipation. Using figs as the raw material, making fig microcapsule fruit powder and verifying the efficacy through animal experiments. The results showed that the total phenolic content of prepared ultra-micro fig fruit powder (UFPD) was (0.3015±0.0184) mg/g, and the total dietary fiber content of the dietary fiber group (DF) was 52.6%. Interventions with UFPD and DF effectively increased dejecta moisture content in constipated mice (P<0.01), enhanced intestinal propulsion rate (P<0.05), and significantly improved the fecal output of constipated mice within 3 hours (P<0.05). Fig fruit microcapsule powder interventions effectively alleviated colon damage in constipated mice, promoted the expression of colon tight junction-related gene ZO-1 (P<0.05), and reduced the expression of pro-inflammatory factors IL-6, IL-1β and TNF-α(P<0.01). Additionally, the content of serum excitatory neurotransmitter(Substance P) in the UFPD and DF groups was significantly higher than in the model group (P<0.05). The research results indicate that the ultra-micro fig microcapsule fruit powder process effectively preserves polyphenols and dietary fiber from figs. Fig fruit microcapsule powder can effectively improve the constipation in mice, possibly by protecting intestinal barrier integrity, inhibiting inflammation, and regulating neurotransmitter levels. This study aims to provide theoretical references for the protection of fig nutritional components and the improvement of intestinal-related diseases.
